The fact that these airlines are mainly European is just a current coincidence. The US may have seen the same thing had the six majors not merged into three. Of course, such industry leaders and giants as Pan Am and TWA fell over years ago. Note that it's not the European giants like BA, Air France-KLM or Lufthansa falling over, but smaller scheduled or charter airlines. Jet Airways of India and Transaero of Russia can also be added to the list as quite large operations that went bust. Jetstar is owned by Qantas, and benefits from the latter's market power when, for example, buying new aircraft. I believe Scoot is owned by the same Singapore government holding company owner of Singapore Airlines. Typically Jetstar and Scoot will not fly to destinations likely to compete for premium passengers with "big brother" (Qantas and Singapore Airlines) but to tourist destinations like Hawaii rather than LAX or New York

Since the narrator seems to keep comparing US to Europe airlines: In the US our national train system is in shambles. It's not a viable option aside very specific areas like the NE part of the country and certain parts of California. Say for business purposes, someone whom wanted to take a train ride rather than a plane - they likely don't have a choice. Want to go from Chicago to Nashville 474 miles (762 km)? No line runs to Nashville's city of 1.9 million metropolitan population. Want to go from the large cities of Atlanta to Orlando 438 miles away? You'll either: 1. drive 6 1/2 hours by car, 2. take a short plane ride, or 3. take a train 638 miles (1026 km) northward to DC in 14 hours, just to come back down south slightly eastward to orlando for a 19 hour 850 mile (1368 km) journey. A grueling 38 hour long trip including 5 hours of wait time between transfer cities. At the end if you want a room with a bed for the journey you'll end up paying much more than the price of a plane ticket. 😣🤔 This unusable train system does make plane travel between cities more than a few hours car ride away the only sensible method of transit.

because airlines go out of their way to piss their potential customers off and have inconsistent pricing. Flight from west coast USA that stops in DFW then ends in europe is 4 TIMES cheaper than just going from the middle destination of DFW to the same place in europe. Less gas used 4 times markup. insanity.

  62. fillupread

    fillupreadMuaj më parë

Awe, poor asshats...I can take a 3 day cruise for less than a 3 hour flight, even in the off season. Air travel in the US is a scam. A majority of the flights are business based which is paid by companies and wrote off as an expense. That leaves the common leisure traveler paying excessively high ticket prices. Not to mention in the US, we are treated like cattle where as on a cruise ship, we are treated like a guest. Most of the US flights are handled by a 3rd party company doing business for the airlines and the tickets are sold through another 3rd party company, meanwhile all the assholes have to get their cut which helps to drive the prices through the roof. To hell with all the commercial airlines and I hope they all go belly up.
